Stan Gunter announced on March 8, 2022, his re-election campaign for House District 8 which, after redistricting, will be comprised of Union, Towns and White Counties for the 2023-2024 Legislative Session.

“I’m honored to serve the people of Union, Towns, Rabun and White Counties. I will continue working tirelessly to advance mental health reforms, rural healthcare, job growth, education funding, protecting our second amendment rights and other issues that affect our district and state.”

Rep. Gunter currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety, Economic Development & Tourism Committee and on the Whip Team.  Rep. Gunter was recently appointed to serve as Chair on the Election Integrity Committee.  He was awarded the 2021 Legislators of the Year by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the 2021 Legislative Service Award by ACCG.

Stan served as Superior Court Judge and as District Attorney for the Enotah Judicial Circuit prior his service as State Representative.  Stan and his wife, Rita, have lived in Blairsville for over thirty years.  They are blessed with two sons and five grandchildren. They are deeply rooted in their faith and continue to set the example for their family through strong conservative values and prioritizing service to others.
